Salut!

I hope you've all had a wonderful week, we sure did have a busy one in our French classes!

Grade 1: This week the first graders

-Reviewed their rules and responsibilities at school.
-Learned some to say some of their responsibilities at home.
-Learned to say the full sentences and write them as well.
-Worked hard on improving their handwriting when writing in French as well!

Grade 2: This week second graders

-Reviewed the occupations.
-Reviewed how to use full sentences to respond to questions like "Qu'est-ce que tu veux devenir quand tu grandis? - Quand je grandis je veux devenir..."
-Learned to formulate and write a full sentence to explain why they chose a certain occupation.
-Presented to the class the occupation of their choice and the reason why they chose it along with a drawing of the occupation. (I considered this task as their summative task for French, I did not however say that to the children in order to avoid scaring them or making them feel pressured. I merely wanted to check how well they listened in class and were able to pronounce their sentences in French. They were not given marks).

Grade 5: The week fifth graders

-finalized their group projects.
-practiced they presentations in their groups.
-presented their posters and dishes, which went very well! However due to some absences and picture day we lost some time and not all the groups got to present. So the remaining groups will present on Monday!

I will share below some pictures from the presentations from the 3 classes:

We also got to try one of the dishes!

Next week's halloween and we're all super excited already! Look out for Cruella De vil!

Happy Friday!

I hope you all had a great long Thanksgiving weekend with your loved ones :)

This short week went by very quickly but was nonetheless very productive. We completed some important work in class in preparation for some projects and presentations that should take place as we go during the 2 coming weeks.

In Grade 1:
-We reviewed some vocabulary that we learned in the previous weeks.
-We learned how to be responsible at school.
-We learned some rules to follow at school in French.
-We practiced writing in French on some worksheets related to the rules.

In Grade 2:
-We learned some vocabulary related to occupations in French.
-We learned to use full sentences to describe what each of the occupations' job is.
-We practiced writing using full sentences to describe the occupations.

Over the next 2 weeks, we will slowly work on presentations in which each student will choose an occupation that they think they want to do when they grow up and tell everyone why. This will be done slowly in steps and with a lot of support from me in class.

In Grade 5:
-We learned about the 3 states of matter in French.
-We learned some vocabulary related to that.
-We started preparing for our poster projects in groups: the students chose each a dish and worked hard to write the ingredients they need in French to make that dish.

Over the next week or 2, we will be working on this dish project, where the final outcome will be a collage poster of the dish labelled which will be presented in class.

Finally I thought to share a nice visit we had during our French class this morning in Ms. Hocevar's class, from 2 lovely second graders who are raising money to donate to the sick kids hospital by selling their handmade bracelets for a dollar!

And I got to take some pictures of some grade 5 French posters prepared for international day last week! all 3 grade five classes made me very proud of their posters on international day, they work on these passionately and did put in a lot of effort!
