Vive les vacances!

And here comes the most anticipated time of the year: The December holidays!
School has been filled with christmas and holiday spirit, the concerts were a hit and everyone is jolly!

We were able to squeeze in just a tiny bit of work in the few French classes that were not missed and we had a very relaxed ambiance in our classes with some holiday French music in the background and a lot of singing!

In Grade1:
-We reinforced some holiday vocabulary related to christmas.
-We completed some worksheets including word search.
-We learned some holiday songs :"Vive le vent" and "petit papa noël".
-We continued to work on distinguishing action words and nouns through some fun games.

In Grade2:
-We reinforced the vocabulary learned last week.
-We learned to write a letter to Santa using the proper letter presentation and sentence structures.
-We learned to sing "Vive le vent".

In Grade 5:
-We wrote our year in review "Mon année en revue": using the past tense recently taught (le passé composé).
-We learned to sing "vive le vent" and "le petit renne au nez rouge".

For the holidays, I encourage my Grade 5s to go on the link below, and choose some stories to read at their own pace to improve their reading skills and enrich their pool o vocabulary words in French. This site has plenty of well-known stories that they most probably already know in English, therefore they will be able to focus on the sounds, reading and language itself. Translation is available on the website and audio is also available for each story.

I would like to thank you all for all the support and efforts you put with your children at home, and wish you all some very relaxing holidays full of family, love, joy and laughter!
