Hello everyone!

What a week! Spring fundraiser, daily events, teachers pied in the face and student-led conferences have definitely made this the busiest week of the year at St. Jude's! But it was all super fun.

I would like to thank all the parents who made it to the conferences last night and took some time to see me and discuss their children's report cards, and overall progress in French. I was very happy to hear all the positive feedbacks as well as concerns and some nice suggestions to help students be more exposed to the French language.

I know that the amount of time your children are exposed to French during the school day isn't very long, and more exposure definitely does help their understanding and oral pronunciation. For this reason, I have taken some parent's suggestion to find some interesting children- friendly tv shows that students can watch some tie during the weekend in French, and looked up some shows available in french on the Netflix kids. (I know many like to use youtube, but I personally don't prefer to, just because I am not sure how safe it is to navigate it).
We are currently working on Biodiversity in French which is also their UOI. Netflix has a very nice documentary that ties-in very well with biodiversity and is available in French: "Life BBC Earth, season 1". I have suggested to my grade 5s to try to watch one episode in French this weekend if possible (they will need to click on "audio and subtitles" and change the audio to French). This is not a homework or anything required at all for our lessons in class, it's just a suggestion to see something in French that is relevant to our work.

Grade 1:
In Grade 1 this week, we continued to identify items related to spring along with colours and weather.
Students made their own sentences about spring and why they do or do not like it.

Grade 2:
In Grade 2 this week, we described spring activities and students wrote some sentences on their own using a word bank to describe spring activities (using correct verb conjugation).

Grade5:
We started working on our new unit: biodiversity. We introduced the the unit using keywords, defined them and identified the 3 levels of biodiversity we will be learning about.
